“This is what local theater is all about. A ramshackle group of amateur thespians doing their often campy take on classics that have been analyzed and criticized for hundreds of years. What these part-time actors lack in acting skills they make up for with passion and an obvious enjoyment of the material. I recently saw a version of the children’s classic “The Phantom Tollbooth” at the rustic Volcano Amphitheater. The play was funny and interpreted with great gusto. You can forgive any mistakes when watching a performance by close friends and neighbors straight out of your own small community. I give Volcano Theatre Company a standing ovation!”
