The Volcano Theatre Company is announcing that it has canceled its 46th season due to the impact of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

At a press conference on May 7, Governor Newsome announced that “large gatherings,” including live sporting events with audiences, concerts, festivals, and conventions, will not be able to return until at least the end of September, and not until a “reliable treatment or prevention like a vaccine” is available.

“The health and safety of our entire community including artists, volunteers, and patrons is our highest priority,” said Kathleen Harmon, VTC President. “It is with great sadness that we are forced to cancel VTC’s 2020 season. Our primary goal is to protect the future of this celebrated 46-year-old organization and to bring great theatre back to our stages in 2021. We are so thankful for our local community for all their support. We are committed to remaining grounded in the expertise of scientists and healthcare professionals who have informed the Governor’s decision.”

Canceling the 2020 season has very real financial consequences for VTC. All 2020 ticketholders are invited to donate tickets or consider a voucher for use in 2021. Ticket donations and vouchers represent an investment in the future of VTC, the town of Volcano and the community of Amador. We believe in the importance of art and storytelling in a post-pandemic world. For additional information please contact our business manager, Bob Duzdevich at 209 419-0744 or email: [email protected].

We thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging time.

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy

Volcano Theatre will be reaching out to current ticket holders in the coming weeks. The following options will be available for those who have already purchased tickets to performances that are canceled:

Donate*: Donate the value of the tickets back to the VTC, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We ask that, if you are able you consider this donation option. At this moment of unprecedented impact on all arts organizations, this is the simplest way to help sustain VTC at this difficult time.

Exchange: Exchange your tickets for another performance or for a return visit later in the season (subject to ticket availability). All exchanges are based on the value of your original tickets. Or we can issue a voucher good through 2021.

Refund: If you are unable to return this season or next, we will provide you with a refund for the tickets to the affected performances.

We continue our best efforts to ensure our company and our patrons are protected during this time of global health emergency. The health and well-being of our VTC family, including you, our audience, is at the center of our efforts at this time. Thank you for your support of the Volcano Theatre Company and your understanding. Please take care of yourselves, your families, your neighbors, and your communities.
